Southlake RV Park - Knoxville Empty Southlake RV Park - Knoxville

Another RVr over on rv.net is considering relocating to Knoxville and was asking for opinions on this RV park. clicky to that thread They are looking for a place to stay long term until they get established. I've driven past it a few times & offered to do a drive through to get an opinion Bottom line was ugh. Very run down with zero amenities. The only thing going for it is it's close proximity to Knoxville. It is only 5 minutes from the intersection of Alcoa Hwy and John Sevier Hwy. http://www.southlakervpark.com/

My review....

I got a chance to drive through there today on the way home from work.

In a nutshell, the reviews on rvparkreviews are just about accurate. This is not a place you would head for vacation. It is rundown and primarily occupied by working folks this time of year.

Rates are 250 a week or 450 for the month and include electric, water, sewer, and cable.

The owner told me most of the slots are taken for roofers and contractors that followed last Spring's big tornado / hail storms.

I wouldn't mind staying here if it was just a place to crash. HOWEVER, I wouldn't take my family here. Being female, you might find that you are the only one there at night.

Gut reaction is that the only thing going for it is the proximity to downtown. I would be more comfortable commuting a longer distance for something nicer. Maybe some other local members have ideas. You might also check out http://www.volunteercampers.com for a more local perspective.

The closest other options are far west of Knoxville in Lenoir City or towards Sevier county. There may be options north of town but I don't know anything about them.

And for the pictures.... (cell phone pics in the rain from inside the car so forgive the quality) I also have a large campground map. It is too large for my home scanner but I may be able to reduce it at work & post later.

I would kove to find a place like this, purchase it, and remodel it making it great. Of course I must first win the lottery, or rescue some rich guy's daughter, or discover oil on my property, or........

I would even be your partner - I've looked on the web several times for campground properties for sale, but so far nothing that I could afford or really want.

he should look into Mountain Lake Marina. It works out to $318 a month and you have a lake front campsite. That is most likely were im gonna "HOUSE" my RV.

Too bad we could all get together and form a co-op. Each owner would have to work a set number of days a yr and any money after expenses would be split among all of the co-op.

Now TIM that idea is not too shabby, but I would like to have a permanent site, that could of course be rented out while im traveling. But I would like to live at the campground. LOL

Dave, that could always be worked out. I figured that one site could be set up for the co-op member to use when it was his/her turn to stay at the campground.
