I have a new camp hound
We adopted what seems to me a Plott Hound from the pound. She'll be old enough to camp with me by then. Her name is Dolly Belle Clark. She promises to grow up to be a big dog. I introduced her to the camper today, but we haven't spent the night there yet. Maybe tonight.
(We lost the old dog to a heart valve problem)

Sorry for the loss of the "old dog", I hope the Hound camps as much as you do. So is this a puppy?

It's a puppy, 12 weeks. WE are going through all the puppy stuff. It's a good thing puppies are so cute, with all the things they chew on. I'll take a Pic and post it a bit later on.

Re: I have a new camp hound
When we got our first Lab pup, Ebony, she ate every one of my left shoes! I don't know if my left foot stunk and that is why she ate them or if my right foot did and she didn't want to get close to them.
I gave away about 10 right shoes of all styles. I took them to Goodwill and they said they would be glad to have them.
Hope you keep your shoes! Good luck.

Re: I have a new camp hound
Oh at this point the puppy is badness in a puppy suit. She is chewing everything. Her name is Dolly Belle Clark. The whole family, including Dolly, is on this business trip with me. So far she travels pretty well, and is already doing pretty good with the housebreaking. Outside or on pads, with very few errors.
Here are a couple of photos
Here are a couple of photos of Jon and Dolly in the camper. Yes, she tinkled on the floor, as she's still working on the housebroken thing (13 weeks old). Nothing newspaper and a Clorox wipe couldn't fix. She seems to be mostly Plott Hound. Last week in Pennsylvania, a stranger noticed her and asked if she was a Plott Hound. He says he used to hunt Pigs with them in Georgia. My wife explained that shw plans to make a spoiled pet out of ours, and had to tell the guy twice that we got Dolly from the Animal Shelter, and that she was simply labled "Hound Mix". http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/heavy_petting/2008/02/great_plott.html http://dogtime.com/dog-breeds/plott

She is beautiful, poor Jon. Are you sure he is 13 weeks OM she is going to be a happy doggie. How big will she get?

The only reason she pee'd on the floor was, she had heard stories of Miss Danger. LOL

Naaa, Tim, this little beast is afraid of nothing. They were bread to hunt Pigs, Bear, etc. Darlene, she'll get to be about 24 inches and about 50 Lbs. We suspect she may not really be quite 13 weeks yet.
The tough thing is going to be getting enough exercise for her to be calm around the house. Hounds are high energy and need to burn it off if you want them to not be hyper around the house. Click on the url link and you can see more about them.

Yep, they may have been breed to hunt, but their not the one being hunted. Miss Danger is always lurking.Richard wrote:Naaa, Tim, this little beast is afraid of nothing.
