Homemade Camper
A friend of mine in Ohio built his own little teardrop camper last year.. I have seen it in person.. The workmanship is top quality. The pics don't do it justice... but take a look anyway:

Re: Homemade Camper
I think they actually only camped in it once. Right now it's in the garage for winter storage,.. and it's for sale. I think Dennis mostly just built it to see if he could.

Re: Homemade Camper
Beautiful work, I wonder how hard it would be to put an air conditioner on it? That metal siding would get a bit warm down here in the summer.

Alan.. I am not sure.. but seems like the outside may be something non-metal. I'll try and find out.
Re: Homemade Camper
That's like having a ready made tent, that is so cool.

Re: Homemade Camper
We have new member.. Sheila.. she is a good friend of mine and married to Dennis.. the builder of the teardrop. Dennis doesn't do internet.. so maybe Sheila can answer anyquestions about the camper.. She did tell me it isn't metal.. it's plywood and a fiberglass siding.
Re: Homemade Camper
How much are they asking

teardrop
I actually have an air conditioner that will fit in the box on front.......wouldnt be too difficult to run duct work to the cabin....... and the eagles are level bubbles.....
the siding is fiberglass sheets, has a backing like hobnail look...great for a glue surface.
when all was done I ordered paint to match my ford escape to give it a more commercial look... it has 12v, and 110 access...youll see a doorhandle stop on the right side to cover that..that about covers its looks.... it was a fun build..reccomend the mental challenge to anyone...just see if you can figure out what comes next without disassembly..........$4000.00 is asking price.....I didnt say easy

Re: Homemade Camper
Remember folks, we saw a factory mini teardrop at the RV show for $7,000! This would be a bargain.
Re: Homemade Camper
I'm new here , thanks to Chuck. I hope this shows up in the right place.
My husband built the 'teardrop' just to see if he could. His next project; He wants to 'rebuild' a motorhome. (he love a challange). I told him he has to sell the teradrop first , because I'm not going to have a 'campground' in the back yard. I think a teardrop is perfect for people that like to 'tent camp'. we used it with a gazebo tent for shade, and privecy. But had a real bed to sleep in (no sleeping bags). We would love to talk to anyone about it, if you are interested.

Re: Homemade Camper
My husband and I are both tall (he is 6'4") and we are not the 'skinny' little things we were 40 years ago! It is not for the 'clusterphobic'! the bed is Queen size, with a door on each side and a roof vent. Actually quite roomie!
He is now looking for a older motorhome to remodel !
