Does your Camper have a name?
I now some people have names for thier cars.. When I was a kid.. my dad had a big Buick (probably a 1960 or so) we called "Betsy".. not sure why.
Anyway,.. did you name your camper?
Never called my popup anything.. but kinda named my TT.. the "Big Jake" partly because it's a JAYCO.. but mostly in honor of my golden retriever who passed away this year. "Jake" loved to camp.. and went every trip in the popup. His picture is proudly displayed in the camper. Jake would have loved the TT.
Jake's bed in the popup was one of the bench seats with a sheet over it:

Re: Does your Camper have a name?
That's neat that you named the camper in honor of your camping buddy. Such a handsome dog!
Ya know, it's funny you asked this...we have been trying to think of a good name for our camper, and have batted a few around...but so far nothing's "stuck". Maybe if we actually got to camp more often, it would help!

It's kind of like the mechanic that got married. He tore it up the first night, and he's been working on it every day since then.
Re: Does your Camper have a name?
Our camper is a 1964 vintage Shasta airflyte that we purchased late last yr. from a neighbor who only bought it because he thought he could use it to take to flea markets( he is a vendor and travels to diff. states.) rather than staying in cheap motels. He actually told us another person was looking at buying it, gutting the insides out and converting it to a concession stand but hadn't come up with the money yet and he just wanted it out of his driveway. Being the good neighbors we are and that I felt like we just had to rescue the trailer from it's ill fate we gave it a quick once over and them wrote him a check right then before he changed his mind. The outside had a few rough spot but was still in pretty good shape for it's age. Any projects I can do that are hands on is one of my favorite things to do. A closer inspection of the interior had us amazed at how well the inside was cared for and how much of it was still original. My profile pic. is of the trailer the first day we got it. While knowing the advantages of restoring it as close to factory as possible we also wanted to add our own personal touches to it. So we are slowly but surely fixing it up to bring camping on some of the group trips sometime. I also started a before and after log of pic. to show our progress which I would like to post on here at some point. Getting back to the subject, we have not come up with a name for her yet but now that I have told her story I want to ask all you fellow campers if you can help us come up with a suitable name. All your help is greatly appreciated and when a name is chosen I will be sure to post an update. Thankyou!

Our camper is a 2000 Trail Lite "Bantam" HTT, and has a picture of a chicken (Foghorn Leghorn comes to mind) in overall's, carrying a stick with a bandanna tied to it (hoboish), and wearing tennis shoes. We have lovingly called it "The Frickin Chicken" at times, but nothing is set in stone...yet.

Re: Does your Camper have a name?
Considering that my Coleman Niagara is a pop up I like to refer to it as the "Viagra"!
Not everyone in my home likes that name though!!

Re: Does your Camper have a name?
seymourbass your vintage travel trailer reminds me of the Greek God "Hermes" with the wings, Hermes wore a winged helmet and was the God of travelers and motion.
We havent named our TT yet. I keep calling it a trailer and Carolyn corrects me saying "its THE CAMPER!" Its a little bit more difficult to name this one as my other Volkswagen camper was easy it being decorated in southwestern motif. But until something sticks with this new one it will be THE CAMPER.

Good idea Kim, I like the analogy and the name will definitely be a candidate. Thanks,SouthWestyKim wrote:seymourbass your vintage travel trailer reminds me of the Greek God "Hermes" with the wings, Hermes wore a winged helmet and was the God of travelers and motion.

Re: Does your Camper have a name?
I was originally thinking pegasis (however its spelled), then maybe the bat mobile (because of the wings), but Hermes is definately a better name.SouthWestyKim wrote:seymourbass your vintage travel trailer reminds me of the Greek God "Hermes" with the wings, Hermes wore a winged helmet and was the God of travelers and motion.

Re: Does your Camper have a name?
Ours is the "BeeHive" because of all us Beeivens camped out inside (thanks to the Smokey Bear trip where it earned its name).
