Re: My "new" old pop up
I would like to put some pics on here but I am unsure how. Richard? The talley has not grown due to the cold weather and my lack of motivation to work in it.

Re: My "new" old pop up
Can we bug him any more than we already have? Then again, Alan did start the tally. And, he hasn't said that he won't tell. It probably just takes a long time to add up all those expenses. That's a lot of receipts!
Re: My "new" old pop up

Are you going to re-use the siding panels or replace?

Did you do that canvas by yourself or that still is the original canvas. Boy what so work you have in this...

That is the original canvas, I have the new canvas still packed in a cardboard box on the garage floor. I am waiting until some warmer weather to tackle that job.

Alan, you are getting to be a wizzard at using the site features. Wow, that's taking things apart and starting over all right.

I'm thinking you may be the new master of the Pup Re-do. Dave, was yours as big a job as Alan's? Mine was actuallyworking pretty good until I started "improving" it. Then I had to fix the things that my improvements broke.

About the only thing mine did correctly when I bought it was roll. $500 to start with in 2006. Ended somewhere around $1200? Only one lift arm worked, 12V winch for lift system was installed by previous owner in the wrong position, cables ate themselves and took a lot of other parts out with it. Electrical system was non functioning. Outside stove had it's gas connection severed. Tires (although original since 1992) were dry rotted and too small (12") so rear bumper scraped ground on the slightest curb or incline.
On the up side, the frame, tongue, body and interior were in pretty good shape and I did not need to replace the canvas....

Re: My "new" old pop up
See Alan, you should have used Dave for your inspiration. I think his was a lot closer to being the same level of makeover as yours. You have rescued a popup from the brink of death.
You said you furnished it with castoffs from home, etc. Do they all fit below the bunks when it's closed up?

Re: My "new" old pop up
Dave and Darlene know out pain Alan. But now they know it from the comfort of their Hybrid. I'm just waiting for Darlene to think about Dave's woodworking skills and start deciding that she'd like some improvements. A nice fold-away outside shelf, some different cabinet interior configurations. A few improved sotrage options.
I think mods are addictive. Once you take the plunge, and the fear of messing up or changing something is gone, it's hard to stop.

Dar knows all about my woodworking skills and she has skills herself.
Some modifications will be in order, and some have already been done, but a long time ago I realized that I have a lot less stress in my life if I only do one mod or project at a time. I used to have about 19 projects running at the same time and none of them seemed to get done.

Re: My "new" old pop up
Alan, are you planning on putting a sink in the PUP? I have a perfectly good bathroom sink faucet that I had to take out because it wasn't the right color. It's yours if you want it. I think I have the pop-up drain and all for it. I don't need it and hate to throw something away that is some good.
Re: My "new" old pop up
Alan, do you have a new grand total on your pop-up?

Hey Richard, bring that sink to the club's first trip and I will get it from you. The total hasn't chaged due to the fact that I haveb't done anything to it in the last month, too cold and nasty.

Well since the money total hasn't changed, have you kept up with your hours during this restoration?
