VC 2013 FALL Camping Event OCTOBER 11 - 13, 2013

Panther Creek State Park, covering approximately 1,435 acres, is located on the shores of Cherokee Reservoir, an impoundment of the Holston River. Panther Creek has 50 campsites complete with water, electrical hookups, grills, picnic tables, fire rings and a bathhouse facility. A laundromat facility is also available. The two bathhouse facilities provide hot showers, commodes, and lavatories. The campground also has a dump station for self-contained trailer rigs.

We encourage you to make reservations now! As more people become familiar with the new State Park reservation system.. these small parks, like Panther Creek.. will fill up on the weekends. It looks like most sites are $20 per night. (plus the reservation fee).

I have never been here, so I don't know anything about it. Are we planning to get in a certain area? I know there are only a few sites that we can fit into - 33' long and 12' wide.

Looks like the bigger (longer) sites are in the upper area.. #27 - #49.. when you click on the site number.. it shows the length.. several are 30-40 ft long.. and looks like any of them would be wide enough.

I am gonna reserve in that area..

great Donna.. Site 29 looks nice. One of the rangers (on the Panther Creek facebook page) said that was a favorite for RVs camping. Hoping we can fill in the empty spots up in that area.. then we will all be pretty close.

Well I am off that weekend might try to make it that is a couple hours away from me but looks like a nice camp ground

I noticed that the sites on either side of mine (#35 and 39) have been reserved for the dates of our event.. but I don't think they are any of our members. Looks like that have been reserved for the entire week.

Just a reminder...  try and book sites soon for PANTHER CREEK this fall.   I am excited about camping at a new place (for me).   This will be a short drive for some of our friends in the area..  hope you join us.

FYI.. I found my notes on PANTHER CREEK SP.  I drove around the CG.. stopped and walked around many sites.  I try and do this in CGs I might visit.  These are the comments I made.. based on what I like and don't like in a campsite.  I only list sites that I would want to reserve.

your opinions may differ..   maybe this will help someone pick a site..

Sites 2 and 4 (4 is best).. very nice, level at bottom.. creek side (no fishing) these two may be best in park
8 an 10, OK.. not exceptional (10 better than eight)
34 and 32..  nice, but kinda wet (34 is better)
25 not bad.. a little short
27  very good, long, level.. not much shade
38 very nice site..  shade, level, up against hill, upper end
29 long site.. faces showers and shelter
33, 35, 37,39 ad 41... all ok

UPDATE: I checked the Panther Creek Reservation system today.. Many sites still open.. but this is a popular fall weekend for camping in October.. so reserve soon!
