Camping weather
I guess I am anxious to give the new2me camper a trial run.. so I am really fed up with the rain. I wanted to do a quick get-a-way, near home, this weekend.. but it rained and rained and then rained some more.
I did get out, under my carport, Saturday and worked out of my truck bed.. going through, cleaning, tossing out, etc.. all the camping stuff I had in totes. It had been stored under the carport all summer (nearly a year) so a few dead spiders and bugs needed to be cleaned out too.
The weatherman says no rain next weekend.. if that forecast stays true I might try and head up to COVE LAKE for a night or two.

Chuck, I'm not sure but I think cove lake might turn off their water in winter months..? if so you might want to fill up your tank before leaving home if you decide to go this weekend. Its awful tempting not to go too, I'm itch'in to camp again!

Hey kim I believe the water is on, however u can only camp in the first loop. The big outer loop is blocked off until spring. I road down by there this weekend a d there were a few people camping. Looks like they had the water lines hooked up

Re: Camping weather
yes .. COVE LAKE is open all year round with water and electric available.. in the front loop.
Been watching the weather.. and with temps below 32 (even down to 22) for at least 4 nights in a row.. I am thinking about re-winterizing my rig. Stopped by WAL-MART tonight and picked up 2 gallons of RV anti-freeze. I just flushed the pink stuff out of the lines while checking all systems this past weekend.
If I do have to winterize again.. I will not be going to COVE LAKE.

Re: Camping weather
I winterized my camper again.. so I am not going to COVE LAKE. I could still go and just not use water.. but the forecast has changed to even colder now (highs in the 30s.. low around 15) so I will most likely stay in the house and eat chili this weekend!
Re: Camping weather
Chuck if you blow out your lines you need not have any worries , you can camp any time just put a cup of pink stuff each drain for pea trap. That way you just go came back blow out lines really easy to do, and a lot cheaper and you are ready for next trip and no real expense. Been doing it for 30 plus years

Re: Camping weather
besides.. even if I camped in 25 degree weather.. I wouldn't hook water up. I would use the CG facilities for showering.. bottled water for drinking.
