Clabough Campground in Pigeon Forge
Does anybody have any 1st hand experience with this campground? The reviews look fairly positive & my google street view preview makes it seem OK.
Still considering a last minute Thanksgiving trip but the boss is always hesitant on going somewhere we haven't checked out first.

We drove through several years ago. Not impressed either way, so I guess that makes it an OK place to go.
Re: Clabough Campground in Pigeon Forge
I camped there once a couple of years ago. I had a good time.. but that was more because of the friends I camped with. At that time.. I felt, Claybough's was in need of repair. Not much room between the sites.. and most were in rough shape. Needing a new load of gravel,.. new picnic tables, etc. Some had fire rings.. some were missing fire rings and just had a bare spot in the ground.
On the plus side.. it's a good location in Pigeon Forge.. just a minute or two from the main road. The PF trolley stops right in the campground.. next to the game room/pool area. There are plenty of trees.
Bottom line.. looks like Claybough's was really nice back in the day.. and could be nice again with some maintenance. I would stay there again.. but only for the convenience of location.
By the way.. if you like trees.. you should really drive up to Bandy Creek in the Big South Fork area (Oneida). I know you may not wanna do that for Thanksgiving.. maybe next spring.. It's really beautiful! and only about $25 a night. In the summer season they take reservation on line.. you can reserve your fav spot.

We got into the KOA instead after shuffling our schedule to allow us to meet the 3 nite minimum. (Who wouldn't for an extra night of camping?) We try to avoid driving in PF and rely on the trolly expecially on these busy weekends. This puts us in walking distance to the main trolly depot.

AFOB, we will be at Pine Mtn, #38. Come by to visit. I know rconkin (ray and karen) will be there on Friday evening. We WILL have a campfire, so swing on by and join us for a little "fire" time. They will have their 2 kids, ages 8 and 6 and we will have ours, 8 and 5.

I liked Claybough just fine. I was with Chuck on the same trip. Cool breeze was there. Tim, my kids and I took the shuttle to Dollywood, and it was great. The trip back was really long. Be sure to ask the driver to let you off across the street on the way back, or you will ride to the end of the Earth and back before they get back to Claybough. I would camp there again. Be warned, don't camp by the water in rainy season. There have been quick evacuations from those sites due to rapidly rising waters. Still, it is a good location, a pretty good campground, great camp store, and friendly staff. I put their bumper sticker on my camper. It hides an ugly stain that was there.

Just hope that the shuttle driver knows how to operate the heat/air.

Wow, I had forgotten about that, Tim. That was a warm summer ride with the heat on maximum.

Just spotted this, Sorry I missed it.... I think we were huddled up inside Friday night with Cocoa and the Polar Express.
