Well IMO it would be nice for people who have kids to have everything open like pools, Have said that it opens up things the adults can do. Warmer weather is also a plus maybe later in your time frame. But this camp ground is one of my most liked local campgrounds. I will book on what ever you pick.

I agree.. maybe we can have something else later in the season.. the "Kick Off" event has always been early in the Spring.. April or May.

I am up for any weekend if i can get off work that is getting harder and harder to do just let me know dates for sure asap so i can put in for it. been wanting to go on a group trip since I was unable to get off on this years trip

I realize it seems so early to be planning.. but I appreciate everyone signing up. I am a "planner" and like to have things lined out. I think it's best to be prepared.. then you are ready for changes.

This area offers some shade trees and a little more "woodsy" feel than the newer, big back sites.

I am gonna try and book pretty soon. I will let everyone know where I am when I book.

Well.. I am disappointed. the area we wanted is already reserved April 26-28. Can't get any shady spots. May have to change plans. What do you guys think?

You KNOW that I am a big proponent of Pine Mountain. There is shade along the creek in the back-in sites. I don't know what they have going on or if they have the room, but that would be my suggestion. I am kinda wary of River Plantation after "some events" that occurred and so it wouldn't hurt my feelings to move it.

That being said, in April, the heat probably wouldn't be a problem even if we don't have shade.

I will be there no matter where we have it, as long as something drastic doesn't turn up.

Donna is right.. so we will probably stay with River Plantation.. the rates seem to be the most competitive in the area.

When I spoke with them today.. they said there were plenty of sites... just not in the area we had before. I will check tomorrow and try and reserve. Then I will let you all know where I am booked.

Of course.. folks can reserve wherever they want.. it just seems nice if we are at least within shouting distance.

I booked my site today at RIVER PLANTATION for the 2013 Kick-Off Camp-Out. I will be in site #181. Here is a picture showing general area:


and here's a closer picture. If we want to stay together.. book in this general area (circle). The guy told me today that there are several open sites.. and he would hold them for at least a week.. So tell them you are with VOLUNTEER CAMPERS.. and ask for the site you want.


My site was $36 plus tax (around $40) per night. It's $36 because these are 30/50 amp sites. They will give a "Good Sam" discount (I didn't get the discount) if you are a member. They require one night deposit to hold the site.
