Tim, one piece of advice I've learned about major mods... Be smart, don't start!
Advice well taken

It was just a brief lapse of judgment

Lapse of judgement. I see. Like the pink fammingo travel trailer that you didn't think chuck would get a photo of. I got it.

I would have thought you would have learned a lesson from Alan's quick fix-up of that old pup he bought.

That reminds me...we haven't had a progress report from Alan lately

I have been too busy lately, hopefully things will slow down once the summer starts. I hope to hit it hard then.

LOL, now there's a thought.

OK, two nights of camping, three or four days of repairs. Gotta love old campers.

Re: Richard's Pop Up Mods
Well, the "free" water heater and $20 laundry sink faucet are finally in. It only took a full day and $100 worth of tubing, adaptors, adaptors to adapt the adaptors, tee's, clamps, etc. to hook those two bargain parts up. Today is the test for leaks. I've still got to run the pressure relief hose out the hole in the bottom. I had to drill four holes before I hit a spot in the floor (and still inside the cabinet) that wasn't trying to drill through the frame. I finally got one that is only partially blocked by frame. A hose will go through it, with room for water to flow, but it's pretty tight.
The main sink drain was patched with Duck Tape, I went ahead and cut it in half so I'd have to replace it as well. I bought a Universal Dishwasher Drain Line to replace it with. I hope that works, otherwise, more adaptors.
Plumbing is no fun. Plumbing in a pop-up camper is even less fun.
Now to rig up the shower and drain for the shower. Home depot has a moblie home shower head that looks promising. It runs on a 3/8" line, which is what my camper is plumbed with. I just have to find a shut off that will go in-line and figure how to mount it.

Re: Richard's Pop Up Mods
My wife is off antiquing with a friend for about four days, and she has the digital camera. I'll take pix when she returns.
By the way, the hot water and faucet work just fine!! I had two small leaks that only required a little tightening of hose clamps. The new drain line works as well, but I may have to shorten it just a bit. The sink now drains slow, and a loop/bow in the drain line seems to be the culprit. I don't like flexible tubing!
Our underground electric wires are being replaced. One of the crew saw me working on the PUP, stopped by and asked questions about the bunk-end covers that Chuck gave me. I invited him to step inside the PUP and see all my mods. He said that it inspired him to get to work on his PUP. I warned him that once you drill that first hole, there's no stopping on mods. I also told him about this website.

Glad to hear that you only had to small leaks

I don't know if that was a good ideal. You may have just condemn the man to a lifetime of mods.

Re: Richard's Pop Up Mods
Richard, I must have missed something but how are you disposing of the water? Do you have a blue gray water tank or something like that? Not sure how the water will drain.

Re: Richard's Pop Up Mods
Hey Darlene, The hot water from the sink still runs into the blue gray-water tank. I haven't rigged up the shower part yet, but it will run into a different tank. Either a blue 6-gallon version like I use now, or an installed tank that I will steal from Alan's parts camper, if he comes back on and agrees to let me have it. He hasn't posted lately.
If I'm camping where there is sewer, I'd like to rig up a hose to take my gray water from both drains right into the sewer, but that's a couple of projects away.

Re: Richard's Pop Up Mods
If Chuck is going to be bunking in with me and the kids after he sells his Jayco TT, I gotta get this pop-up in top shape. I've got a place all fixed up for your bird/mascot to roost Chuck, right next to my ostrich. We've got plenty of room for you, but I suggest you claim an end bunk early so you don't have kids climbing over you to get to Wildfire in the middle of the night. They might not make it!
Which brings me to my point, there is no detachable pour spout in a hidden compartment on the potty, or else it's well hidden. I'll have to head back to Lowes/HomeDepot to the plumbing section to get stuff to make one.
I love the look on their faces when I tell them that I'm looking for parts for my pop-up camper.

Re: Richard's Pop Up Mods
Richard .. I don't recall ever seeing a "pour spout".. You are detaching the tank from the seat aparatus before you attempt dumping.. aren't you?
Re: Richard's Pop Up Mods
Richard, my porta potti I use for my vw bus is a thetford and it comes apart in two pieces like Chuck said. THe sit down part comes apart from the tank part by a sliding latch. When the tank is separated from the sit down part you see on the tank part a 2 inch tube elbow you swing out that has a cap on it that you swing out, uncap and empty into a toilet or whatever dump containment you are using.Mine also has a button you push that releases air to help it drain.Usually all porta potti's Ive seen come apart so you can carry just the tank part to wherever you are dumping.
