Indian Mountain State Park Trip of Many
I lived over Jellico mountain and spent my life here at this park. I can not no longer let it be forgotten. This is a beautiful place with several play grounds and the little lake, loaded with fish. Private sites with the enjoyment of a little town.

Here is the link.

I have had many memorable trips to Indian Mtn SP. This park is practically in the middle of Jellico and minutes to grocery stores and restaurants (keep in mind this is a small town), yet when you are there it seems like you could be miles from the nearest town. As Dar said, the fishing is usually great. We have had many bluegill and bass fish fries here. There is also a large creek that runs alongside of the park as well as the lake for fishing too.
Good times to be had here.

Re: Indian Mountain State Park Trip of Many
Indian Mt is on my list for a trip this year. I wanted to go last year but just never made it. Back last winter I went up and took some site pictures.. SEE THEM HERE.
I remember liking sites #37 and #38 the most. but it was winter and the trees were bare.. so its hard to say.

Usually our trips here are not planned. We just decide to go and then we're there! We'll try to give everyone a few days heads up when we decide to go.
It won't be long before a trip to Indian Mtn. SP come up.

I actually thought about going to IM this weekend (and still might).. but it looks like it could be raining Friday and Saturday.

Hey Chuck, take a chance. If you decide to go, put something over in the I'm camping Here area. I'm looking to make a quick trip, and it sounds like Tim is as well.

Keep in mind Indian Mtn. does not turn on the water or open up the shower house until just before Memorial day!
Cove lake however is open year round.

I thought about the water thing.. so I probably would do COVE LAKE instead.. besides it's a little closer too.
But.. it's raining and dreary right now.. and supposed to rain again Saturday.. So I probably will wait until our BANDY CREEK trip next week.

Looks like a nice place! I wish there was some of the areas around here open. Most of the state parks won't open till April 1st or later. Where is this places?

It is on the Tennessee and Kentucky state line in Jellico. It is about 40 minutes from Knoxville going north over Jellico mountain exit 160.

Re: Indian Mountain State Park Trip of Many
Thanks for the sites. I was spelling it wrong!
These midnights have taken a toll on me this week!
Is it a hard drive up there? Mountains or anything? We have been wanting to go up that way but I haven't ever been North of Knoxville so I woukldn't know where to go. I saw the directions and it looks like it right at the edge of town.?

Re: Indian Mountain State Park Trip of Many
I have never camped at INDIAN MT.. but I have driven through the cg a couple of times. Very easy to get there. No steep grades at all. The only "mountain".. is going up Jellico mountain on I-75. The state park is right on the edge of town.. but you don't feel like you are in town.
I have camped at Cove Lake a few times.. it's also just off I-75.. at the edge of Caryville.
Both are close to restaurants, groceries, etc.
Of the two.. I like Cove Lake a little better.. a bit more wooded.
Fisherpal.. have you ever camped at NORRIS LAKE or BIG RIDGE state park? I like them both.. and they are within 30 mins of my house.

I agree with everything chuck said!
One of the reasons we go to Indian Mtn so much is that we have family in Jellico. But sometime we just go and don't tell them that we're there. Shhhhhhhh don't tell them!

Sorry for the delay in answering..
We have never camped any where above Watt Bar lake. I was looking at Norris and some other areas but we just haven't made a trip up there yet.
