Music Festival and Camping
edited to add: I just checked and it's the same weekend as the Bandy Creek trip.
I wanted to share with you a really neat yearly event here in Bristol. If you have thought about attending, I encourage you to do so. This year is it's 10th Anniversary. It has become a real musical event and last year people came from atleast 30 states and 5 foreign countries per the newspaper. It is a called the Rhythm and Roots Reunion. It is a 3 day musical event. The dates for 2010 are September 17th - September 19th. I guess I should have checked first to see if there is a group event this weekend, but just now thought about that.
Anyway, it is just a great event. It takes place in a 4 block wide space on State Street. Half of the street is in Virginia and half is in Tennessee. Last year there were 3 outdoor stages, one dance tent and 16 indoor stages. The quality, quantity and variety of music being played is really amazing. It offers a mix of musical genres including Americana, bluegrass, blues, Celtic, country, folk and gospel.
This years lineup has not been announced yet. You can find a list of last years performers here

Here is a picture I took last year. It is on facebook, so I am not sure if you will be able to access it or not

The closest campgrounds would be Lakeview in Bluff City or the campground at Sugar Hollow Park in Bristol, VA. There is also Observation Knob campground on South Holston.
