Grindstone Campground - VA
Grindstone is one of our very favorite campgrounds to get away from everything. There is no cell service. No internet. I don't know about dish tv. I would guess not though since the campground is so tree covered. I am not sure of the elevation. However, it is HIGH... which makes for cool camping in the heat of the summer. Grindstone is located in the Mount Rogers National Recreation area.
pros: most sites are extremely large and private. The last site we had, we couldnt see neighbors while sitting outside. Extremely shady and cool in the summer. Peaceful beyond belief. The roads are wide and paved for bike riding. There are hiking trails in the campground as well as a playground and a small spring fed water play area. I have heard that there is excellent trout fishing there as well.
cons: if you need cell or internet or any of that stuff, you wont be happy here. It's pretty much you and nature.
Grindstone is a good place to stay if you want to ride the Creeper Trail. It is fairly close to Damascus, which is a really neat town.
Also, alot of people stay at Grindstone and head over to Shatley Springs to eat. I am not sure of the drive town though

Grindstone has electric and water. I believe sites are $23.00. They have a few loops. Some may not have electric. Please ask if you are interested in going and I can let you know what sites we like the most.
Grindstone gets the Happy Camper 2 thumbs up award.
I have a few pics in my webshots..
