Hello All!

My name is Robert and I used to love camping when I was a kid. Mom and Dad had a pop up which we regularly camped on weekends with 2 other of my parents friends. In the campgrounds I always met new friends to hang out with so some of my best memories were when we'd camp. Now I have a family of my own and we just bought a used pop up (97 Dutchmen) It needed a little TLC, but I'm happy with it. We had our first outing a couple weeks ago at the Jellystone Campground in Cosby, TN. Let me tell you, it brought back some fond memories and my kids had a ball. I've got the fever and I can't wait to take it out again. I ran across this site, looking for some camping buddies, since its always more fun when you at least know someone else at the campground. We've got 2 kids (Son thats almost 11) (Daughter almost 9) Looking for kid friendly campgrounds or state parks where there is swimming or hiking.

Hey Familyman, you have come to the right spot. I've got three kids in the age range of yours, and others on this board have young kids as well. We don't really do a lot of organized events, but we do like to camp together when it works out. Some of our best group trips started from someone posting in the "I'm camping here section" and a lot of us started signing up to join them. Between all of us, there's usually someone going most any given weekend to some place in East Tennessee or Southwest Virginia. Sometimes we venture out further. Chuck has his Ohio Tour, and Crawford has his Florida HotTub tour. Marykalia and Abivens have been known to take major extended trips. Just look through the boards and you'll see what I mean.

I'm looking forward to someday getting to meet and camp with memebers from this site. Don't know if I can make any of the tours.... Sounds fun, but gotta work. Weekends, I'm open to most anything. I've been spending most of my time after work lately doing maintance on my PUP that the PO neglected to do. I feel like I know most every screw on the thing by now.... But I would put money on that my "Flying Dutchmen" isn't going to leak... LOL!!!

The PUP refurbish is a story I'd like to hear.

Hey family man i am from roan mountain not to far from you have 2 boys 1 is 8 and one is 2 always looking for another camping enthusiast to go camping with especially one with kids close to mine age. Planning a trip to roan mountain for the halloween at the park on oct. 27 check the post out in I am camping here forum of you might be interested in joining.
