Dave has finished the coating of our HTT rubber roof just before the rain. We have a few more things to do like adding the eternabond tape, once the roof has completely cured. You can view photos, step by step in the below link to photobucket.

What did you coat the roof with? Did you remove all of the old putty?

We have completed some roof work on the camper this spring before our first trip this year. We have looked at the caulking on the roof seams and found we needed to do something to repair it. There have been several instances of small persistent leaks since we purchased our 21ft. 2000 Trail Lite Bantam HTT approx 2 1/2 years ago and could never quite pin down the problem(s) where the leaks were coming from.
Dar will look for the same problems that others have had and their possible solutions by searching on forums like RV.Net and a few others. I noticed that she kept coming up with two products that people have used more than others for situations similar to ours.
After researching these two products for the a few days, I placed an order for 1-50ft roll of Eternabond tape at http://www.eternabond.com/ to cover all of the roof seams and 2 gallons of Liquid Roof at http://www.buyliquidroof.com/liquidrubber.html to re-coat the rubber roof. Both Liquid Roof and Eternabond have links to several videos of customers applying the products as well as training videos. I will not be able to apply the Eternabond until at least 7 days after applying the Liquid Rubber due to the length of time it takes to fully cure.
I removed most of the current (cracking) caulk all around the roof perimeter, vents, air conditioner, and anything else we could find up there that needed to be removed. I had to replace both holding tank roof vents because as I was removing the old caulking around them, they crumbled in my hands and basically self-destructed. Cleaning and prepping the roof for the new work, I was ready to apply the new roof coating.
We cleaned the roof and all roof seams with a free-rinsing car wash and a brush and rinsed well. Once it was dry I rinsed and dried it again because we had some dirty residue still on the roof.
Since I wanted to bring the new roof coating down over the sides of the camper to cover and seal the side roof seams, as well as covering and sealing the front and back roof seams, I used painters tape to tape off areas just past the roof seams on all sides. Then I was ready to mix the catalyzer into the Liquid Roof gallon per instructions. I used a paint brush to “paint” the mixture onto the end and side seams. The coverage was good on the side seams using only a brush. Then I worked through all of the other trim work around vents, antennae, cable and air conditioner. Then I would pour some of the mixture out of the gallon and spread it around with a plastic squeegee, and the roll it out with a paint roller in about 3ft sections until the roof was covered.
We have taken some before and after pics of the work you can see in Dar’s post above, but since she was working when I actually re-coated the roof, and I was under a 4 hour working time with the Liquid Rubber, it was kind of messy and sticky to work with so I did not get to take any pics of the roof coating in-progress. I wish I could have taken pics during the process.
The ripples and large bubbles on the roof were expected, this is part of the curing process and is not permanent. The roof should lay flat again in a few weeks.

We now feel the new roof coating and other work being done will give the camper new life and we can get some leak free camping as a result.

We feel much better about the roof now and through the rain storms for the last couple of days we do not see any water or even moisture in the camper at all. The new roof coating looks great!

Dave, how much is the liquid roof? When I went to the website it would show me the price. How much of the product did you need to cover your roof?

Bought 2 gallons of the Liquid Roof from EDPM Coatings. Including shipping it was $161. Actually used most of it. Had to go through the ordering process to find out how much it was.

Mostly ready to camp. Still, have a few things to take care of that may take some time. I do think we will be going soon and working on the camper as I have time.
