TELLICO PLAINS, Tenn. — KOA Tellico Plains owner William Stokely is thankful, at least, for the timing of the tornado that struck Monroe County on Friday.

The storm leveled the empty commercial campground a mere two weeks before it was to open for the season, Stokely said.

"I think God was looking out for some people," he said.

That's awful, but a blessing it had'nt opened yet. I've never been to the tellico plains KOA although i've checked it out online..looked really nice in the pictures. I often go to the KOA in sweetwater for a weekend getaway in the summer, I enjoy the amenities KOA's offer, cleanliness, convienence and the people who run the campground are super super nice. I hope they rebuild that tellico plains one because I was looking foward to camping there as well.
