Koala 25DS
Well if you have been folowing the 'sale from etcc' thread you know I was selling stuff off that we don't need for the new camper we ordered. It has finally arrived and I was able to get a quick look through it before we take delivery later this week.
Here is a quick teaser pic from my phone..
Hopefully everything goes right and we can take it home soon. Till then, it is just going to hang out there eating eucalyptus for a few days.

Re: Koala 25DS
It came home today and we have been so busy through the process I didn't even remember to take one picture
We unloaded the old HTT last night and I was truly suprised at the amount of stuff we had stuffed in there. It literally made a pile taking up half of the garage.
We went with the dual cam hitch setup since the Tacoma has a bit shorter wheelbase. I am completely amazed at how well it towed allong Pellissippi and Alcoa hwy on the way home
Spent most of the afternoon reloading and getting aquainted with where everything will go in the Koala. We are already looking forward to the first trip to use some of the campground vouchers they gave us.

Re: Koala 25DS
Classy rig, glad you got her home! Now waiting for the story of the first "shakedown" trip.
Re: Koala 25DS
Yes we traded the HTT. It was in great shape and I'm sure somebody will enjoy it.
Still trying to figure out when the maiden voyage will be with work & school getting into full swing. It looks like labor day maybe or some fall weekends.
Here is more pics now that it is all set up the way we like. My favorite features are the 'Jack' tv antenna that doesn't need to be raised and lowered, the rotating entertainment center, & the dual cam hitch.

Re: Koala 25DS
very nice.. the KOALA is one of the best looking campers out there.. you made a wise choice! I like that layout alot (with those bunks for your kids).. and the entertainment center placed in front of the queen bed (whick is in a few KOALA models) allows you to make the bedroom private,... if someone wants to sleep in a little in the morning. I like the 21cs for me.. very similar.. but no bunks.
Re: Koala 25DS
by the way.. I think the KOALA is even better looking in person.. the pictures don't show off the colors as well. The camper is actually a cool looking gray (and black).. sometimes the pics make the camper look almost white.
Re: Koala 25DS
Well no more concerns with towing near capacity.
Traded the Tacoma for an f150 SuperCrew with the Ecoboost and max tow package.
Here's the only pic I have of it yet since it has been raining forever.
Can't wait for the factory recommended 1000 miles to pass before we can tow.

Re: Koala 25DS
I know I'm not supposed to, but I do envy that vehicle......a lot!!!
I've been looking at them for the last 3-4 months and I think I'm going to wait on the 2012s to come out and a few more months to get some bills paid off before I take the big plunge. I have also heard that the crew max will have the max towing package on it and I really need the room inside. Our Chev extended cab just doesn't have enough space.
Then again, I've been looking at an Open Range 413RLL 5th wheel that weighs in about 15000 and the Ecoboost couldn't possibly pull that or even sit under it! Tongue weight of 2600 lbs - 40 ft long, 2 bedroom, 2 bath. I'll have to have a 3500 diesel to pull that thing comfortably.
I'm attempting to talk Butch into retiring next year, renting out our house, buying a 5'er and hitting the road for a year or two - home schooling the kids and seeing some of this great nation. I've never been out west, except to fly across it when we went to Alaska. I want to drive to Alaska and spend several months there; want to do the Black Hills; Yellowstone; Glacier NP; Rockies, etc.

Sounds like you got a plan in the works, Donna. You would be better off finding a late model 3500. Let someone else take the deprication on it.merrykalia wrote:I know I'm not supposed to, but I do envy that vehicle......a lot!!!

Exactly......Tim, why don't you get a crew cab and hang on to it for a couple of years - then I can buy it off of you!!

Nice truck! I think you are going to be much happier towing your new camper with the F150. Its each man's business what and how he tows with his TV.. but I was a little concerned for you.. being so close to the tow rating.
THE NEW TRUCK IS COOL!
Re: Koala 25DS
Got to finally take the new setup out on the road for a quick trip to Pegeon Forge. Holly cow do I like this truck! My jaw hurts because I was similing so much.
Heading over to the Jellystone in Cosby in the next couple of days.
Re: Koala 25DS
I just realized that we just passed the one year mark. We've only gone about 1000 miles with it if I go by the computer in the F150 but it has been fun. So far we have stuck to our plans of using it at least once a month while we aren't winterized.
