My old scoutmaster's wife sent this to me. As I recall, hungry scouts ate great quantities of this dish.

Slum Gullion

2 1/2 lbs hamburger meat
6-8 med potatoes
1/3 lb bacon
...3 med onions
2 8-oz cans tomato sauce or puree
2/3 cheddar cheese
salt and pepper to taste

Put 2-3 cups of water and 1 tsp salt in cooking pot and place over fire
Peel, quarter and wash potatoes, add to water and bring to boil.
While potatoes are cooking:
Dice bacon and fry crisp brown in another pot
Add finely chopped onion when bacon is about fried.
Add crumbled hamburger, a little at a time, and stir to keep off bottom of pan while cooking.
Add tomato sauce or puree
Cut cheese into 1/2 inch cubes and add to hamburger mixture
Place over low heat and stir frequently until cheese is melted
Drain potatoes and add to hamburger mixture
Serve on bread or rice

Why in the world would you serve it over rice/bread? Well, I guess if I had to feed a bunch of hungry teen boys, it probably would be a good idea. But, it already has plenty of carbs (potatoes), so I would think you could just eat that. Might have to give that a try. The rest sounds pretty good - it has my favorite food groups: meat, cheese, potatoes and bacon!!!
