I just threw one of those out last weekend while we were camping. Didn't quite work as well as I'd wished it would. I will however try it again with some "name brand" charcoal to see if that makes any difference.

It really does need to be MATCH LIGHT charcoal. Most of the others just won't stay lit long enough to catch the egg carton on fire.

I have heard that before.. campers who use charcoal to start fires.. seem to say MATCHLIGHT is best.

You can also take the cardboard egg cartons, fill them with dryer lint (stuff it full) and then melt paraffin was on top to keep the lint in. These work pretty good.

Doritos and Fritos work really well as fire starters, too.
