Camping Plans
Is everyone making trips plans for this season? Started on the new floor in the camper this weekend. We are pulling up the flooring, all the way to the steal studs and replacing with new foam and all that other stuff. Then we have to go and pick out what floor covering that will match the decor. Once this is complete we will feel better about making more plans for this season. We just hope we have the camper finished within the next three weeks.

Re: Camping Plans
Good luck on the flooring project.. If ya need some help (not sure I could do much).. let me know.
Besides the Kick Off Camp out at RP,... I have a couple of trips planned. Have used the state park reservation system to secure a site for memorial day and the 4th of July. Don't have any reservations yet... but gonna try and go to Pigeon Forge in August.. camping, a country music show and maybe a Smokies Ball game.

Re: Camping Plans
So far, we are looking at camphosting at Point Lookout, Maryland for the month of June, or at least 3 weeks of June, then going to the NJ shore on a mission trip with our church. We will camp for another week or two between there and home. We will come home and then go to Natural Tunnel for our month of August.
Then we will do a weekend here, a weekend there until Thanksgiving when we will hang it up with our last trip of the season to Pigeon Forge.
Please plan to join us at Natural Tunnel for a few days or at least a weekend. It is a great place, I have an unlimited amount of firewood for fires and a gator to get around the campground and to the magnificent hiking trails.
If you would like to join us at Point Lookout, it is outside of Washington, DC at the point where the Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay come together. There is supposed to be great fishing there, so bring your poles and join us.
If you would be interested in going along with our church group to NJ, you are most welcome to join us for that, too.

Re: Camping Plans
Donna.. you have some great plans.. sounds like quite an adventurous camping season!
Re: Camping Plans
Chuck, we have found that we really enjoy camp hosting. It is just being a good camping friend, helping when need be, giving suggestions on area things to do, being at the campground, etc. We get to camp FOR FREE in some great places and have days off to do sight seeing, can participate in the programs that the park offers, also for free. It's the best of both worlds. There is really no physical work, such as cleaning bath houses, etc.
You should give it a try when you quit working.

That is a great start to your season. Hosting is a great thing. Does the kids enjoy it as much as you and Butch.

Yes they do, Darlene. They gravitate towards the kids and tell them what is fun to do.

Thanks Richard. We're just trying to keep the camper in good traveling /camping shape. We always wanted to replace the floor covering. Now we have a great excuse to do it!

I have no idea where Darkens came from. It should have said Darlene.
It keeps correcting it back to Darkens. WOW!

No Chuck I'm not crazy. I went back and corrected it in the original post. When I typed in Darlene's name the auto-correct changed it to Darkens.

We have talked about Stone Mountain for a couple of years. Have seen good and bad reviews. Be sure and review it for us.

Re: Camping Plans
I heard the KOA in cherokee is especially nice, great trout fishing too and we were looking forward to camping there, unfortuately the road over the mtn is closed to cherokee and I hate going the long way around. Let us know how stone mtn is, when we lived in atlanta we never went there.
