Henderson Beach State Park
We booked for this state park for June of 2013 camping trip for a week and read a few reviews about flies and mosquitoes. I'm thinking we might need to spray around the site a little, my question is does this need to be done before we setup or setup first. Also is spraying legal? I read others doing this and have seen other do this as well. Not total sure how this should go?

Site 23, it took us months to get this site or another for that matter. It would get full within 11 months and 20 days. But got one!!!

We spray YARD BE GONE I think is the name of it Stacie gets it and I think that is what it is called. But when we get to a site and have problems we spray this all around and it works great! We allways keep a can in the camper.

When we go to Hunting Island, (which breeds all of the mosquitoes that live in the US) we use Yard Guard. We get a large container that fits on the water hose and we will spray the entire area down. THEN we set up the camper. This will also give it a chance to dry up a bit before we get out and move around in it.
This will work well for the day and maybe another. Then, we will spray again early in the morning.
This does not COMPLETELY get rid of them, but it does a heck of a job getting rid of most of them.
Make sure you have some repellant that contains DEET. It is one of the few things that are pretty effective in keeping the little buggers off of you.
Hope you have a great time...we are just now discussing what we are going to do for the summer. Not really sure, but the UP of Michigan keeps coming up. That may be our destination.
