Camp Hostin at Natural Tunnel SP, VA
Got a call early yesterday morning from the park ranger at Natural Tunnel. Seems the camphost for July had gotten sick on Friday night, taken to the ER and they did surgery on him on Monday. He or someone had moved his camper out on Sunday. She wanted us to move on in, so since we were already packed, we headed on down here. Got in about 6 pm and completely set up about 8. (I had to stick around Norton for the girls to get out of a birthday party).
So, we are here.
We would like to have some company. The place is usually pretty empty during the week, but fills up quickly on the weekends. The pool is open and I am sure it is still "brisk" even though they have a heater. It will be open daily until the 15th, then only weekends until Labor Day.
Anyway, this place is great, the store has opened.
See ya camping somewhere.

Donna, you and Butch have certainly been dedicated to camping this year. The kids and I will be up to camp with you guys at Natural Tunnel. We haven't camped, even in the driveway, since the kickoff trip. I'm due for some campground time. I may take a vacation day and make a 3-nighter out of it. I'll keep you posted.

I know there aren't many reservations for this coming weekend, but not sure about next. It's probably pretty freed up - especially if you make them during the beginning of the week. The last weekend is race weekend and who knows how that's going to be. We were ALMOST full last year - we had 2 sites left. Anyway, come whenever.

Just made reservations for next weekend, looking forward to meeting you in person. It looks like check-in is 3:00 so the kids and I should be there around that time and Karen will come up after work.

I had people checking in at 10 am today. As long as you don't arrive on a Saturday or Sunday, you can pretty much come in at any time. Give me a call if you want on either Thursday evening or Friday morning and I will let you know if you can get here earlier.
Right now, it looks like we have 10 (18 available) in Lover's Leap and 8 (16) in Cove View
276-393-5004 or at the camphost site 276-940-2702.

Will do. Kids haven't started school and I haven't started my new job yet so we could definitely come up earlier.

I just found out that Dylan has football practice Friday and a jamboree Saturday morning so I'm going to have to cancel the trip this weekend. With the price of diesel and the amount of the time away from the campground, it just wouldn't be worth it. We have a high school reunion on the 18th so that shoots that weekend and his games start on the 25th. Looks like we won't make it up there this month.

If you aren't working, come on up during the week and let Karen drive from here to K'port to work. It's only about 25 or 30 minutes away. Pool's open and there are fewer campers. Great time to be here.

We've talked it over and we're camping. Dylan's fine with it and as his coach said "It's not the end of the world, it's 7 and 8 year old football".

Good deal.....see you sometime Friday. I think we are booked up - only have 3-4 sites left for the weekend.

Ray, had a great time visiting with your guys this past weekend. The girls thought it was great, loved playing with Dylan and Jade. Jayda is still asking when you are coming back to camp with us.
Let's definitely plan to do T'giving at Pine Mountain or somewhere and we will see if anybody else would like to come and join us, too. We might have some takers.

We had a great time too and can't wait until we can get together again. We have talked about Thanksgiving and trying to find out what our other kids and mothers have planned as they usually come down here on Thursday so it might be that we come down Friday or Thursday after they all eat.

That sounds good, Ray. We tentatively plan to come down on either Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning and stay until Sunday.

Well, the month of August and a few days in September have flown by. We are packing up tonight, at least the stuff that we can pack up and will be pulling out sometime tomorrow morning, heading home. The TT has been cleaned, but the outside still looks like the Clampetts' relatives have been living here for a while.
Hopefully, it will only take an hour or two to get it cleaned up.
Wish we could have seen more of you around here, but hopefully, we'll see some of you this fall.

Y'all certainly get your money's worth out of the camper.
