Just made my reservations for James Island County Park outside of Charleston for our spring break - March 23-30. Anybody interested? They have a FEW more sites.

I would love to go there, I heard it is VERY NICE. My kids will have their spring break 03-09-12 thru 03-17-12 we are still trying to figure out where we are going to go.

That is probably not far enough south for the first part of March. I'm not sure it is far enough south for the LAST of March.

UPDATE

We left home yesterday morning several hours after our planned departure....missing dogs, pokey people, etc. We have a 90 degree turn about 1/4 mile from our house, before we hit the main road and we have always had a problem turning. I have always gotten out and made sure we were okay while Butch drove the truck. Well, I got the big idea that we wouldn't have to swing quite as wide as we used to.......DIDN'T WORK!! Had to go forward, backup, go forward, backup, etc. for about 30 minutes to get out of the spot we were in. Shew! Then had to get gas, had the dogs and we needed to eat, so we had to go in. (The girls are not quite good enough to fight them off when the dog outweigh them by 30 pounds).

Finally got on the road at 11:00.

The truck pulled the 5'er GREAT! The only time we slowed down was up Sam's Gap and we got behind a truck and got caught in the lane, so we had to slow to about 30 and then it was hard to pick up any speed until we got to the top. We go no cross-wind when we were passed by an 18-wheelers. YIPPEE

We had about 5 pee stops! Traveling with a husband that has a bladder the size of a plum tomato, 2 dogs and 2 girls, we had a whole lot of peeing going on and stops were not for 2-3 minutes. Butch would hop out and go, I would hook up both dogs, then get the girls and dogs out. By this time, Butch would usually be done and he would take the dogs while I took the girls to the restroom. A couple of times, they also got snacks and that would add to the time.

We stopped and got gas and followed the above procedure except he started pumping gas and then went to the bathroom. I timed this stop - it took 37 minutes!

Arrived here about 7:00 pm got backed in (tight spot) before it got dark. Got everything hooked up and went and picked up some dinner.

The new mattress slept wonderfully! At 2:22 am, it started raining and it has been raining ever since.....they are calling for 2-3" of rain before it quits later on today.

The girls, as well as the dogs did well. Dogs decided they had to go out about 2:00 am, so that is the reason I know what time it started raining.

Pics will follow sometime later.

First, hope it stays nice and no rain for the rest of your stay. I would hate to see this road you have to travel, but I am glad you know what to do. Have a great trip...
