1st trip with new vehicle
We took our first trip with our new tow vehicle and I have to say it was a rousing success! We just went down to Riverpark campground in Jonesborough which is maybe 20 - 30 miles but the ride couldn't have been better. This thing tows like a champ! The integrated brake controller was smooth as silk. I actually gained speed going up hills. Too bad winter is coming. We're going to Warriors Path SP next weekend, but the time to winterize is acomin'. We are already planning a trip to the beach next year.

Re: 1st trip with new vehicle
What beach do you plan to go to? We went to Hunting Island this past summer...probably my 20th stay. It's great if you like the beach, large sites and the ocean. There are bike paths and fishing, too.
Re: 1st trip with new vehicle
Last year I didn't winterize, but used a light bulb in the cabinet instead. This year I'm blowing out the lines and adding anti-freeze.
Re: 1st trip with new vehicle
We do anti-freeze as well. Wife inside manning the spigots and me outside pumping it in through the city water connection. Pour a little in the p-traps, toilet and in the holding tanks, by-pass and drain the water heater and we're done in 15 minutes.

Re: 1st trip with new vehicle
We winterized Saturday and it took us more time locating the 3 gal of antifreeze that Butch had bought than it took us to actually winterize. I was inside working the spigots and he was using the water pump to pump the antifreeze through. We DID remember to do the outside shower this year. We forgot it last year, but it didn't do any damage, thank goodness.
Re: 1st trip with new vehicle
I had a gallon of anti freeze. But my camper takes about a gallon and a half. Everyone (just about everyone) was sold out. Saturda afternoon.... finally found some RV antifreeze at the NAPA parts store.
Re: 1st trip with new vehicle
I will use Crawford's "blow out the lines with a compressor" method again, once I get to it.
Re: 1st trip with new vehicle
You better get a move on it, buddy. It's supposed to be 13 degrees tomorrow night. I'm not sure a light bulb can keep lines from freezing in those types of temps.
Re: 1st trip with new vehicle
The light bulbs did the job. Still, I have now blown out the lines and put in antifreeze.
Re: 1st trip with new vehicle
I'm glad it worked, but I sure had my doubts. Now, to start planning our spring trips since we have all winterized.
