Holiday Camping Reservations?
2014 will be the second season for camp site reservations at TN STATE PARKS.. Today, I looked at site availability, at a couple of parks. People seem to be taking advantage of the reservation system. Although, still plenty open.. there were quite a few reserved sites at many State Parks.
I am reserved at Fall Creek Falls for memorial day weekend.. and looking at other holidays. Would like to reserve before the good sites are taken.. or the CG is full. Also would love to camp with my friends.. since I usually am the only one in my camper.. it's nice to have some neighbors to camp with.
If you have plans and/or reservations for other summer holidays.. let me know.. I might join you.

Re: Holiday Camping Reservations?
Hey Chuck, we would be willing to camp with you in your trailer. You sure wouldn't be lonely with all the Clark's piled inside your camper. If I had known you felt this way we would have camped with you, all in your camper all season. Thanks for the warm invitation. We will bring our own linens and sticky snacks. How many gallons does the black tank hold? I can bring Wildfire if you think we will need him.
Re: Holiday Camping Reservations?
Chuck, we will be at Natural Tunnel for both Memorial Day and Labor Day. Why don't you plan to join us for Labor Day since you have reservations for Memorial Day. The pool (which is included in the camping price) will still be open and will close for the season on Monday. It will be a 3 day weekend, so it will be worth you trip up here. I am sure we can talk others into joining us for the weekend. Usually for a holiday weekend, they do a lot of the historical stuff and have the Block House open with interpreters there to do a program.

Re: Holiday Camping Reservations?
I'd say Lovers Leap is the nicer of the 2 CG's there.

I wish I could find one of the pics I took of our sites in Lovers Leap when we were there last August. Shady is not a word I would use to describe them, but MASSIVE is. The first 2 sites on the left as you come in the loop are kind of like "companion sites" and are enormous, great for a group to hang out at. The site numbers escape me right now, but I'm sure Donna can tell you exactly which ones I'm talking about.

Those are 13 and 14. We refer to them as buddy sites. 13 is the only pull thru.
Re: Holiday Camping Reservations?
Lover's leap has big sites and a new bath house. Sites are pea gravel. Cove view has all pull thrum but your neighbors are close....about like Panther Creek. They are grassy with a few trees. Older bath house.
Re: Holiday Camping Reservations?
Donna.. which cg will you be in?.. and which one do you think i would like best.
Re: Holiday Camping Reservations?
Found one...
This is site 13, and we liked it a lot. It's hard to tell from this pic how wide the site is, but that is 2 picnic tables you see lined up length wise there, and they are the extra long ones with handicapped ends. I'd bet they are a good 10 - 12 feet at least from the side of my camper. As you can see that site does not have any particular shade trees on it, but for a hangout site it fits the bill. When we make it back up that way it is the spot we will try to get every time.

We are not in a campground. The campgrounds are about 100 yds apart, separated by a large field. The camphost spot is on top of the hill overlooking both campgrounds and beside the camp store. (We have a gator, so we can come visit).
Chuck, both campgrounds are nice, but we like Lover's Leap. Then again, our camper doesn't fit well in Cove View. Cove View is the older campground and has a few trees and lots of grass, but your neighbors will be 15-20 feet away. In Lover's Leap, there is not much shade, but the way the campground is designed, you have quite a bit of privacy.
The site that helmsey has a pic of is #13. The pic was taken from site #14. It is a great site for people that are camping together. Most of the LL sites look like the picture, but are flat.
This is a pic of Cove View taken several years ago, but you can get an idea of the size and how close you are.
Re: Holiday Camping Reservations?

Re: Holiday Camping Reservations?
We did 4 nights at FCF in November, we were in B loop and really liked it. If memory serves we were in site 94. Our group had 6 sites in the B loop and they all looked to be pretty nice. There are some you will need a little bit of leveling help, but that's not the end of the world. I dont have any site pics from that trip as it monsooned on us most of the time. We still managed to have a great trip and eat good
