Engine Control Computer Problems

Seems I have Engine Control Computer Problems. It is something I have never dealt with. The dealer said if I knew some one with a 460 ford engine, that I could take my computer to swap it to see if it would start that MH. I may tell if it is the computer. I know no one who has a Ford Chassis with a 460 engine.

I run a chevy so it woudl not help much. I wonder if an OBD reader would help any and if it could read it or not

I would imagine there has got to be someone out there that could or have run into the same problem. I know when my truck went into Lymp Mode once i found www.thedieselplace.com that i found a bazillion that had run into the same and the fix was easy and much less $$ than the dealer.

Thanks, I wish mine was a Chevrolet Work Horse Chassis. I have a code reader, It doesn't do a thing. Well when I plug it in the light comes on. I turn on the ignition switch, and the light goes out and it doesn't even read any codes. The code reader don't even light up. I have replaced everything I can think of. Everything from the MAP sensor, distributor, distributor cap, rotor button, fuel pump, (I think I needed a pump any way) coil, plugs, plug wires, and made sure the vacuum hoses were plugged. I charged all the battery's. I am at my wits end with it. Its like it doesn't get fire to anything, not even the fuel pump.
I don't know where to go from here. The only thing I havn't replaced in the Engine Control Computer. Guess that's next, when I get the heart to work on it again.

Tony....so any good news on your Camper?

Its the computer. I hope to find one soon. The numbers on the one in it are rare. I miss getting to camp. Hope to be back soon.

No new computer yet. I have been looking at the junk yards. Looks like She gets a new one in the new year. I am ordering Priscilla a new computer next week. The junk yard ones are $75. The new ones are over $300. Its almost winter camping time, so its time she wakes up and is ready to go. Thanks for asking.

I found one and ordered it. It should be here any day. The price was kinda high, but the Life Time Warranty made it worth the price and wait. Thanks for asking. I hope to be back to camping by next weekend. Here is a link of where I found it.

That would be nice to make it there. I am looking forward to Cove Lake or Norris Dam in the winter.

Let us know in the "I'm camping here.. join me!" thread, Cove Lake is usually our first trip of the year, Norris would work also.

Ok when we get it planned I will post it. We like the feel of the cooler weather. Which its way too cold now for us to camp. I have camped in this weather but that was quit a few years ago. I like to think I'm smarter now, not too old.

Tony, have you been fixing the camper, hoping things will be ready in a few months, you could join us at Bandy Creek in April. I am sure we will head to Cove Lake around that time frame.

Hope to have it going in a few days. Got the computer and its working good. The only thing now is the timing. I just have a little time a day to work on it. I hope to get her going this weekend. See you all soon

Tony, thought I write to find out how things are going with Priscilla. Do you have a place thats inside to work on her or are you just waiting for a nice day. Hope that you can make our Smoky Bear trip. It looks like we are going to have a great turnout.

Priscilla is still down. Hope to get her going soon. We are taking time to camp in the travel trailer. We are going to be at Bandy Creek this weekend. I knew there was a reason we couldn't sell the travel trailer. We don't let a little thing like, Priscilla not running keep us from camping.

She is on the road to getting better. If I had took her to the Vet, sooner she would be up and going. Don't know why I thought I could work on a FORD. Poor Girl, Got the looks inside but ugly as a fence post out side. The wrong motor, But a heart for Camping.
