How Cold Before Freezing Trouble?
I have read a few comments and opinions about winterizing.. and we have covered some aspects in another thread.. but I am wondering. How cold do you think it needs to be before you could develop problems in your RV?
I know 32 degrees is freezing.. but I also know.. from having an above ground swimming pool.. that it takes several hours at or below 32.. to cause you serious problems. I don't even close my pool for the winter. In Tennessee we just don't have the extreme cold.. for long periods, that make it worthwhile. I leave the pump and motor all hooked up. If it is gonna dip below freezing.. I let the pump run and keep the water moving.

I would say when you see snow stick to the ground and its there for more than a day but keep in mind that our pipes are behind fiberglass walls.
What i will begin to do is pump the pink all winter after each trip. For me at $4 a gallon is cheap insurance.

Re: How Cold Before Freezing Trouble?
I have been spending so much time working on my remodel lately that I haven't been in the TT much. So I opened up the door and noticed my sky light bubble has been ripped off during that bad storm a couple of days ago. The inside of the camper was soaked along with sheets, blankets, etc..I walked through to the bathroom and noticed the shower head laying in the tub. I supposed some water was trapped in the connection to the head, froze, expanded, and broke the shower head off. I immediantly obtained the dehumidifier from the basement and plugged it in to start drawing out the moisture. I took out all the linens and rugs. I will have to get another skylight tommorow. Sure hope it doesn't rain tonight!!

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I hope it doesn't rain until you can get it fixed.

Wow Alan.. thats too bad. Guess we all need to go in and check the campers from time to time.. I usually am in mine for something about once a week.

Geezh Alan, I'm betting you didn't plan on getting into re-modeling and modifying on both campers. That had to just make your stomach tie in a knot when you found all that damage. The offer of a "fix-up rally" at "Camp Alan's Driveway" is still open.

I have my space heaters heaters, my dehumidifier dehumidifying, and my fans fanning. I just wish my parts would get here..

Do you have an ideal of when your parts are to arrive?abivens wrote:I have my space heaters heaters, my dehumidifier dehumidifying, and my fans fanning. I just wish my parts would get here..
