I was about to post that I wasn't going to be able to camp, but was planning a day trip with the kids to Rock Creek to visit with you guys. We'll join you next time.
re:
hate that the plans fell through would have liked to set and talk with you and let the kids play. Hey just to let you know as long as nothing happens we are planning on camping on the weekend of oct. 27 in roan mountain state park the prices are half off that weekend and the kids can go trick or treating and every one decorates there campsites up we went last year and had a real good time just if you get to go get close to the top or plan on spending $1000 worth of candy mad house on the bottom. lol we spent like 40 on candy and had a lot left over but there were quite a few "dedicated" trick-or-treaters that made it up the big hill

That sounds like fun JB. We did end up going to Rock Creek on Saturday. We stopped in at the IGA there in Erwin and picked up Picknick Supplies (Chicken, Biscuit, Chips, Drinks) for under $15 and headed on up. It was $2.00 day use fee, self serve. We had no trouble finding a shady picknick table, and the chicken from IGA was great. Then we went to the swimming pool/pond. Burrrrrrrrr! I only made it up to my knees. The kids all had a blast swimming and playing with the other kids (There were lots of kids). Well behaved group of people. We drove through the campgrounds. Wow! Talk about room between the sites and plenty of shade, this campground has it. I wouldn't try it with a big rig, but for mid-size and below campers it looked great. I also noticed that only some of the sites had electric hookup. I'm betting you'd need to get there early to get one of those. The tall trees all through the park are just wonderful. The kids can ride bikes or scooters on the paved roads. It was only 30 to 40 minutes from home. I'll certainly be camping there! Even if I couldn't get a spot with electric, it would be fine. It was 84 degrees in Johnson City, but was actually a little cool up at Rock Creek. It was also easy to find. Turn left at the light past the IGA and watch for the big huge sign for the park about 3 miles or so down the road.

Me and the kids went there for three night couple months ago. Been Wanting to go back really enjoyed it. I did not notice that all the sites did not have elec. just the tent sites. And yes it fills up quick tried to go there twice last year and it was full both times. I like it better than roan mountain because the entire campground is semi level where roan mountain unless you get on the bottom the kids can't ride there bikes. If work ever slows down to where i get a day off I am going to try to go back here.

JB, why don't you come up to Natural Tunnel. It's about 30 minutes from Kingsport - don't know how far you live from there. It's a great place, lots of trails, GREAT pool (free passes with camping), good company (us). It's not crowded during the week at all, but usually fills up for the weekend.
re:
Mary I would but never have gotten tags on the camper or had it put in my name have not got the 400 dollars it is going to cost to get it registered/tagged so till i do i need to stay closer to home (and def. out of Virginia) but I really appreciate the offer.

well unless something happens in the next few hours the camping trip is still on . Only we have moved the location to roan mountain state park so that we can take our son to football practice. I am so excited tried and failed to make several camping trips for one reason or another this year

I take my pup to VA without tags. Tennessee doesn't require them, and I have a TN truck and a TN Liscense. You might get pulled over, but I don't think you'd be fined. They know the deal that close to TN.
