I just haven't embraced texting. I've tried it. I even broke down and got a phone with one of those little tiny keyboards that slide out. It just seems to be too much trouble, vs waiting to get to a computer and typing on a realistic size keyboard, or just calling. I understand the appeal, it just doesn't appeal to me. Plus there are all those cute little codes that I have to figure out. I just didn't get a lot of them until a friend from back in Alabama posted these guidelines on Facebook.

....MIDDLE AGE TEXTING CODES: ATD -at the doctor. BFF -best friend fell. BTW -bring the wheelchair. BYOT -bring your own teeth. FWIW -forgot where I was. GGPBL -gotta go, pacemaker battery low. GHA -got heartburn again. IMHO -is my hearing aid on? LMDO -laughing my dentures out. OMMR -on my massage recliner. ROFLACGU -rolling on floor laughing and can't get up. TTYL -talk to you louder!

THESE I can understand.

I've heard of English. At least that's a start.

I dont have free texting on my cell so I dont use it..I really dont see the point if I can call someone and speak to them. However it did come in handy this year when my partner had to go to texas for her dad's funeral and we didnt have out of state coverage on our phones to keep in touch . She has free texting on her phone and I used the computer to text her so she could text me back..thats how we kept in touch. Here is a free texting website that you can use for short messages.
