Re: Virginia Creeper Trail
It's only about an hour away from my house, and I have ridden the trail, but never camped close. I have camped in Bristol (about 25 minutes away) at exit 7 (Sugar Hollow Park), which is a nice, nice park except for race week. It's a city-owned park and has electric/water only. You are only about 1/2 mile from I-81, but you feel like you are out in the mountains somewhere.
Our church group always goes in the fall (Octoberish), take our bikes in a trailer, they drop us at the top and we ride off. It doesn't require a lot of peddaling, but lots of braking. Sure would hate to have to ride UP!
It's a fun day, takes several hours to come off.
