Axle in the Ramada
I've been home for about 72 hrs and have pulled the axle from under the Ramada thinking I would need to replace it....Good news after using a BFH and a chisel the old bearings came off and with a little sanding it looks like replacing the bearings and seals should get her back on the road. The brakes on the other hand are toast and will not be replaced....The tow vehicle has pulled heavier loads without any problems.
I saw alot of CAMPERS/CARAVANS in England and even a Hi/Low in Kuwait.....But nothing beats home and The great state of Tennessee !

Glad to hear that the bearing & seals job wasn't that bad. How are you going to pull without brakes?BigJimmyinTN wrote:I've been home for about 72 hrs and have pulled the axle from under the Ramada thinking I would need to replace it....Good news after using a BFH and a chisel the old bearings came off and with a little sanding it looks like replacing the bearings and seals should get her back on the road. Re: Axle in the Ramada
I think he is saying his tow veh is capable of pulling the weight of that trailer (and stopping it) without brakes. A lot of pop ups and lighter weight trailers dont have brakes. I could probably pull mine without brakes ( I did a few times).. but its safer, with my small truck.. to have the brakes.

Heck, I could pull mine without brakes but isn't it the law to have brakes?chuck wrote:I think he is saying his tow veh is capable of pulling the weight of that trailer (and stopping it) without brakes. After a little research I found the Tennessee Laws on pop-up & Campers..
Trailer Weight
# Pop up travel trailers, which weigh more than 3,000 pounds, must have working brakes on all four wheels. Trailers weighing between 1,500 to 3,000 lbs. are required by law to have breaks on at least one axle. Tennessee Travel trailers, which weigh less than 1,500 pounds, are not required to possess breaks.
