Summer heat. Empty Summer heat.

Lots of folks on the water right now. While we were camping last week I had to fish by myself cause the wife and daughter didn't want to go out in the heat and they don't like night fishing.

I launched out of Harrison Bay ramp and went looking for some new spots this time. I really didn't get to do a lot of fishing as I was interested in finding new places and new fish. I found a few fish deep on the humps in the channel areas but didn't do a lot of time out there due to the heavy traffic on the water.

This time of year most of the fish are just like us. They don't like the heat and want to cool off too. Most fish will migrate to deeper water to get at or below the thermocline of the water.
If you are fishing from the bank this time of year, I suggest using live bait and trying for panfish. Its a lot of fun and can be challenging as the heat of the day wears on.

Glad to see more folks who fish join up and welcome them to the forum. Hope everyone has a great summer and if you run out of anything to do try to just relax and fish a little!

Great tip fisherpal2k. You are absolutely right about the fishing in the hotter times of the yr. Understanding your quarry is 50% of the game. Sounds like we need to compare notes. I also wanted to mention that if anyone is thinking about purchasing any new fishing equip. I have plenty of items I have bought in bulk, some new, some used that I would be willing to sell well under retail prices found in stores. That would make it possible for someone to buy a higher quality item at a lower price than the cheaper stuff.
I have a friend that owns a tackle store also and he has even called me before to find out if I have something he is looking for that he can't find or cannot get any longer because it has been discontinued.
