Maiden Campout Went Great!!

Well Friday I headed out to Cove Lake State Park for my very first campout in my new Sportsmen Classic travel trailer !! I want to thank Chuck for his helpful information on Cove Lake and surrounding parks Everything went smooth as silk from set up to take down, even though I was nervous about forgetting to hook up something or emptying the black tank hoping I wouldnt look like robin williams in that rv movie LOL.I really couldnt be more pleased with the performance of my new trailer. I did cruise up to norris state park sunday morning before I packed up, just to see If I would want to camp there. Unfortunately I dont think my truck with camper will pull the long grades going up there to the west campground (which was beautiful by the way).However I did enjoy Cove Lake very much and intend to go back there again soon since it was so nice.My next camp out will be at my cardnal cove cherokee lake weekend after memorial day.I cant wait, I had so much fun this weekend. Looking foward to making a campout with some of the folks here soon.

You can make those grades at NORRIS.. I guarantee it! Once you get a little more comfortale pulling the camper.. you will wonder why you ever doubted the truck and trailer would make it.

Try and join us at RIVER PLANTATION.. it will be a blast!

Kim, if you are pulling with that 1/2 ton truck you should have no problem making the trip to Norris. I pull a 30 ft camper with our 1/2 ton truck and it has been to Fall Creek Falls and back. Probably won't do it again just for the fact that it was a little much on it. But you should not have a problem with the new trailer.

HA HA HA, I guess I deserved that cool after all the grief I gave you! I will surely have to get some kinda party lites or something

I seriously dont think my little truck will pull that norris grade because its only a 4 cylinder nissan 4x4.I bog down going up grades and have to drop down in third sometimes. I had wanted to try big ridge state park but a couple I was talking to at cove lake said the road to the campground is vertical about so if its worse than norris I can forget about that.But Im not discouraged, their are tons of campgrounds that I can make the grade on

Not really sure what the number was come to think about it, it was near the rear loop around, mostly sunny spots at that end, but it was full up almost by the time I got there friday evening.Next time Im going to get a more wooded shady spot.

I was so undecided friday nite due to the call for rain but decided to go for it anyways . Hopefully I will make one of your campouts, will check out river plantation
