"abivens" said: I definately do all the cooking on our trips, but I kinda like it. I would like to get better at it so practice makes perfect. I have found a well cooked and seasoned burger can make for as great a camping meal as the more elaborate meals. I did smoke ribs on a trip and it was good, but it was an incredible amount of work. I have been trying to stay with simpler meals and just doing a better job on them. -----------------

Get yourself a good BIG crockpot and you can use a cheap cut of meat, cook it all day and it will just fall apart. Add some cream of ??? soup to it and serve over noodles/rice and add a salad or green beans and you have a MEAL!!

My problem... $$ wise.. sometimes I get kinda restless.. or I think of an item I must have. So.. I drive over to the nearest grocery/walmart.. or whatever. I see things I think I might want or need for the rest of the trip. Ya know.. those taste tempting cheese curls.. or those delicious little debbie cakes, etc. etc.. and I end of spending an extra $25. But.. when the camping trip is over.. I usually have enough extra stuff to make a few meals and snacks at home. I guess I need to adjust.. I always bring home too much food.

My wife says she looks forward to my return.. she knows I will have a bunch of good junk food with me.

Note to self: Keep an eye out for cheese curls and Little Debbie cakes at Chuck's campsite.

I've still got half a box of Cheese Nips, but you'll have to fight the kids to get them away from them. They hide those inside the camper, even from me.
