Lock Recall Empty Lock Recall

I'm not sure if this has been posted elsewhere but thought it should be shared. The lock supplier that provided locks to many manufacturers from 2006 to 2013 has just started the process of a recall. If I understand it right, they are still working through the supply chain to notify manufacturers, dealers, and then owners.

My locks were a part of the notice, so I called directly and will be receiving two new lock cores & keys. They are going to include a special tool and a return package for the old parts and tool.

Here's the link to see if you are in the recall...

Thanks for posting this recall information. I immediately got my key to see if it was one of the recalled numbers, luckily mine was not on the list.

Check your keys for any of these codes on them:

HF-304
HF-307
HF-308

HF-311
HF-313
HF-315
HF-316
HF-320

HF-328
HF-331
HF-335

If you have any of the key codes listed.

Or if your lock set has the part number mentioned.

Or if you can remove the key in the deadbolt's 9 o'clock position.

Any of the three things qualifies you under the recall.

I checked mine out. It's not part of the #s that are recalled, but I can remove the key when the lock is at the 9:00 position. I guess I'll need to get mine replaced.

It took a bit to get the parts but they came Wednesday last week. Interestingly enough they were shipped locally from Johnson City.

Replacement took less then 5 minutes and that included reading the directions. It was super easy. The 'tool' they send is actually a key that releases an unused lock pin. Slide the key in then when you pull it out the cylinder slides out with the key.

I probably spent more time checking that I kept the correct keys & packed the old ones to ship back. The new locks seems to work a bit smoother but thats probably because they are freshly lubed.
