crime scene tape?
Recently when Carolyn and I went camping down at the river, the people next to us constantly came into our campsite to fish from the bank or to walk down the river. I always thought that when you rented a site on the water your site included the riverfront so you could fish from your campsite. I think its rude when people take your fishing spot you paid for, invite their family and friends to come fish there as well. Only one older gentleman actually asked me if he could fish "my spot". Is it no one is taught camping manners anymore or am I just old fashioned and think its common courtesy to walk around someones campsite instead of walking through it,or fish from it. I can maybe understand children running through your campsite, but adults with no consideration gets my goat. Sooooooo I am thinking next time I camp at the river I will string up crime scene tape on both sides down to the water so people get the idea, hee hee. Well maybe not crime scene tape but a clearly seen barrier of some kind. Has anyone else cordoned off their campsite?

No, but I will usually tell children that it is inconsiderate to walk through other peoples' campsite. If their parents are there, maybe they will learn a lesson, also. Probably not, but it does make me feel better.
Anytime we take other children with us, I make sure to tell them that they can't walk through others campsites. Mine already KNOW!! If I catch them, they will get scolded the first time, grounded to OUR campsite on the second offense and sent home on the third. It's just not to be done.
Now, if they are friends of ours and we are camping together, or if our children are playing together, their site is fair game as far as I'm concerned.

It seems to me in this day and age that good manner is long forgotten. Today it seems as if everyone only worries about me an screw the rest. The crime scene tape is a good idea. lol

I am in agreement. You could also try a sign that says something like: Ready for a new career? Let me tell you about opportunities with term life insurance.

Now that's funny, I don't care who you are!
Same thing happened to us at the KOA East Asheville. Very annoying...Kids and teenagers, some with their parents, walking/fishing right up the lakeside where our camper was 30ft from the waters edge. Guess I'm too nice to say anything to them... But I'm getting over that affliction pretty quickly. I'm already the "grumpy old guy next door" to the neighbor kids, might as well apply that practice to the campsite!

This happened to us at Cove Lake SP. The only time we picked a waterfront site. Camper was approx. 15ft from water and the picnic table was about 4ft from the water. A guy would come and sit at our picnic table and fish with his kids in the same area around our site. Never even talked to us. Then we just put a some stuff on the table and left it there, this seemed to deter them from sitting at the table, but not from fishing at our site...Till we told them we were about to have lunch/dinner whatever and asked them to find another spot to fish.
